Daniel Purchas is one of the founding directors of GradConnection. He spent 5 years studying at The University of Otago, completing both a BCom and PGDipCom majoring in Information Science.

During his final year of study, Daniel was very active in applying for positions in multiple graduate programmes at many different companies. He ended up securing a position on one of the major bank's IT graduate programmes and spent the next 2 years working on the programme in both the bank's New Zealand and Australian operations. During his time on the graduate programme Daniel was very involved in the recruiting of new graduates, as well as developing and making improvements to the programme while he was completing it.

Daniel believes that in the recruitment field the most important thing is to understand the needs of both the hiring company and the graduate who is looking for work. If you can understand what is really driving both parties, then it is possible to make connections between the two groups that will really benefit both parties.
